Texas Sheet Cake

This rich chocolate cake is the perfect cake to bring to a summer barbecue. It will feed a crowd but don’t expect any leftovers. The preparation is quick and easy because both the cake and the frosting are made on the stove top. Your mixer will get a little break. What could be better than brownies? Rich, decadent raspberry truffle brownies. Even though I have a soft spot for boxed brownie mixes, I have found my new favorite brownie recipe. Fresh raspberries combined with Chambord give a noticeable raspberry flavor to these dark chocolate brownies. The name is very appropriate as they taste very similar to raspberry truffles. I love living in Flagstaff because there are so many amazing places to explore within a day’s drive. A few weekends ago I went on a camping trip to Zion. We saw Emerald Pools, the Weeping Wall and my favorite, Angel’s Landing. The view was worth the climb, a 1500 foot elevation change in 2.4 miles. Continue Reading…

Guinness Chocolate Cake

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I hope you’ll have room for dessert after your corned beef and cabbage. I’ll be having a slice of this delicious cake. Normally I don’t much enjoy the taste of Guinness, but this cake is an exception. It is very easy to make, just a single layer and the ingredients are all mixed together on the stove.
