Angel Food Cake

It’s hard to believe that a cake with such simple ingredients can be so challenging to bake. Angel food cake already has a bit of a reputation but add high altitude into the mix and it may seem too difficult to attempt. I have always enjoyed angel food cake but I have been a little hesitant to bake it at 7,000 feet above sea level. Texas Sheet Cake

This rich chocolate cake is the perfect cake to bring to a summer barbecue. It will feed a crowd but don’t expect any leftovers. The preparation is quick and easy because both the cake and the frosting are made on the stove top. Your mixer will get a little break. The Fourth of July stirs up many good memories for me. Fireworks, family vacations, barbecues and days at the beach. One year my Mom made a beautiful flag cake and I still remember how special I thought it was. The way she arranged those little blueberries and strawberries on top. Inspired by these memories, I made a flag cake today. I used raspberries for the flag’s stripes but strawberries will also work. Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend. I made this little fella for dessert today. I’m not a big fan of how the cake turned out, I think it was a little bit too dry. It was still tasty though (can’t go wrong with buttercream frosting). I will research more lamb cake recipes in time for next Easter.
